Last few NCS summer places available!

Dear Parent/Guardian

Last few NCS summer places available!

You may remember that at the start of last term we told you about NCS (National Citizen Service) – a youth empowerment programme where 15-17* year olds embrace the lessons you can’t learn in class.

We were delighted to have had the NCS team in over the last term, informing students about this once in a lifetime opportunity and handing out those famous blue NCS envelopes! It was wonderful to see students jumping into this adventure, excited about their future beyond the four walls of school. I am delighted to say that 10 Brighton Hill students have already signed up; but there is still room for more to take advantage of this opportunity.

At Brighton Hill we never tire of hearing stories of NCS graduates who’ve become more confident, resilient and future focused. This life changing opportunity is something every young person should have the chance to do. We believe that whether your child is about to start sixth form or college, or preparing to enter the working world, signing up to NCS is one of the best decisions they can make.

  • NCS helps young people learn the skills employers really value.
  • The programme provides an opportunity for young people to meet new people and broaden their horizons.
  • NCS helps young people put aside the exam stress and have an adventure!

So, what is NCS? NCS is a unique part-residential programme focused around fun and discovery, plus planning and delivery of a community project that benefits both the young people and society. Government backing means that it costs no more than £50 to take part in the 4**week summer programme. The £50 covers all activities and residential costs. Bursaries are available on a case by case basis and support is provided for young people with additional needs.

Places are filling up fast on NCS programmes in Hampshire. There are 6 different start dates to choose from, with the first programme starting on the 19 June 2017 and the final programme departing 24 July 2017.
