As part of the measures that we are taking to ensure the safety of students when we return to school in September, we will be minimising the sharing of equipment in lessons where at all possible. As such, it will be particularly important that your child has his/her own full set of equipment to use. In order to support us with this, it would be very helpful if you could ensure that your child has the following items ready for their return to us in September.
Equipment list for all:
Equipment list for Key Stage 4 Art (only relevant if this subject is studied by your child):
Equipment list for Key Stage 4 Design and Technology (only relevant if this subject is studied by your child):
The Maths Faculty also run a small stationery shop at break times with the basic stationery items on sale at very low cost in case students lose or break their stationery during the school day.
Whilst for the first 2 weeks of the Autumn term, students will not be undertaking any practical work in Food, Design and Technology (DT) or Science lessons anyway, when practicals do resume, we won't unfortunately be able to offer students aprons or lab coats to use in Art, Food, DT lessons or Science for the foreseeable future. We can't be held responsible for any damage to students' clothing whilst they take part in these lessons although you may optionally provide these for your child to wear if you wish. If you wish to purchase a lab coat for your child to wear, this can be used in Art, DT and Science lessons to help protect their clothing.
In Food & Nutrition lessons it is a requirement to wear an apron for food hygiene reasons. These can be bought directly through the Skoolkit school supplier for £3.99. The Creative Industries faculty will, if necessary, provide a plastic disposable apron to those who forget or are unable to source an apron. However, we are keen to minimise and actively reduce our reliance on single-use plastics, as such we will buy the type that can be recycled with carrier bags but would also request your support in our mission by buying an apron for your child if you can afford to do so. In this way, we can minimise the number of disposable aprons we need to give out and recycle.
Additionally, in order to avoid the need for students to change in school, your child will need to wear their full PE kit, as stated on the uniform policy, on the days when he/she is scheduled to have PE or Dance according to their timetable.
We thank you in advance for your support in ensuring that your child is fully equipped upon their return to school. If your child is in receipt of free school meals and you are concerned about being able to afford the equipment on the list above, please contact your child's Head of Year in the first instance.
